Russian Opulence : Peterhof Palace

The Winter Palace of St. Petersburg

4.26.2011

My apologies for not posting all week! I was waiting on some very important photos that my friend has of mine but to no avail, I have yet to receive them.

So, here are a few bright photos from my first day in St. Petersburg, hangin' around the fresh-colored Winter Palace. It's the old residence of Peter the Great, Catherine the Great, and the likes, and houses The Hermitage Museum, one of the best I've ever seen (and I've seen many!)  Beyond this square, the city is filled will pastel buildings, cute little canals and bridges, and art/ history up the wazoo.. lol.. which I'll only give a glimpse of for now since I literally have over a thousand pics.

So I hope you enjoy this slice of sunshine!.. I'm off to bask in NYC's 80 degree sunny weather :-)

The Dead Cities of Syria

4.05.2011

Things may be a a little rocky in the Middle East now, but it was without a doubt, one of the best trips I've ever made.

So this dead city.. Just hearing the mysterious name made me really want to see it. I went Serjilla, one of the best preserved of the abandoned towns and built in the 5th century. It prospered from olive and grape cultivation for 200 years, but like most of the other Dead Cities, it had not a single inhabitant by the 7th century. All that remains today are the ruins of a bathhouse, a small church, and some residential houses including a two-story villa which still stands today among the mounds of crumbling rocks.

Peekaboo! :-P

I'm in Vécu Magazine!

I'm super excited to announce my first feature in the April issue of Vécu magazine. Vécu is a beautiful source of inspiration – fashion, art, and design, with absolutely gorgeous photography and interesting information I've not seen elsewhere. I was in total love with their aesthetic since I first came across Vécu, so I was thrilled when asked to contribute.

My feature begins on page 48 and covers two of my day trips in Tuscany, one which I posted about last month in Lucca and also a new one about wine tasting in Chianti. Hope you enjoy!
