Yep. I traveled to Syria, a "high-risk terrorist endorsing country" according to the U.S. government. I didn't tell my mom I was stopping here on my way from Turkey to Jordan because I knew she'd worry for nothing. Things may be a a little rocky in the Middle East now, but without a doubt, was one of the best trips I've ever made.
So this dead city.. Just hearing the mysterious name made me really want to see it. "The Dead Cities of Syria". These pics are from Serjilla, one of the best preserved of the abandoned towns and built in the 5th century. It prospered from olive and grape cultivation for 200 years, but like most of the other Dead Cities, it had not a single inhabitant by the 7th century. All that remains today are the ruins of a bathhouse, a small church, and some residential houses including a two-story villa which still stands today among the mounds of crumbling rocks.

Peekaboo! :-P

Shows how fragile civilizations can be. .and how even the best of architects and architecture cannot stand the test of time. Great photographs! Your presence made the images very modern. New meets old..

Magnificent. I love these parts of the world. No crazy radicals, bomb busting, rpg weilding, political drama could ever keep me from it. Traveling is supposed to be an adventure. And you can't have adventure without a little bit of risk.
Thanks for sharing!!!
Once again your photos have knocked my socks off! Gorgeous! I am fascinated by travel to this part of the world!

Hi and happy start to the week! Nevere been in Syria...I'd like soon!
I’ve posted a very fresh and “juicy” Sunday outfit…black+yellow fluo, green suede maxi pochette, “banana”shopping bag and Reminiscence “fruit salad” necklace (in the kind of Prada s/s 2011 accessories ; ))
The colorblock I prefer (at least for now) is mixed with more neutral tones, like nude or black…what about you?
Hope you’ll like it… ;)
Kisses…..
