Vintage Luggage

3.25.2011

Ok, maybe these are past vintage, more like antique since they date back to before the 1930's. I love them! I tried to steal one out of the pile (not really, lol), but seriously, how cool would it be to travel with original luggage from the days of old world glamour... What do you think of these? Would you travel with an antique/vintage piece?

I love all the luggage pics and the quality of the luggage is so much better than anything that is being produced now!!!You should've just taken one and jetted out, I am sure the lady at the booth wouldn't had noticed as she was so entertained reading the Times.

Such gorgeous luggage!
I would definitely travel with a vintage suitcase or train case... or one of those fabulous Goyard steamer trunks!

I lurrrvveee these suitcases but i would most definitely use them as decoration in an office or bedroom, i can't imagine carrying these too far in some exotic destination, though i bet it would look uber stylish :o)

Lorena those are gorgeous! My parents had vintage suitcases and I must say although they look super cool they do not have the conveniences of a modern suitcase, like rolling wheels and resistant handles. So for airport trip I wouldn't take them but for a stylish trip by car to somewhere near by they work just fine!

A Casa da Vá said...

and I will let you know once I am in NY, by fall for sure!

LORENA : TRAVEL DESIGNERY said...

I agree! I love them but they don't have the convenience of the modern ones... Good only for when you have a butler or a hot boy toy to handle them for you!..haha..

Hi, thanks for commenting on and following my blog! Yours is great and I can't believe you only just started it!
These suitcases are really cool, I've always wanted a vintage suitcase - more for decoration than to actually use!!

Oh I adore vintage luggage! But then again, back in the day the rich folk who owned them also had a personal bellhop, which I'd require to lug these around (no wheels = a pain). I guess this is where companies like Globetrotter got their design inspiration from!

Great blog by the way. Thanks for your kind comment. I've just followed you :)

I would, but I would require some strap-on wheels to help me lug them through the train stations! I'm sure that defeats the purpose though...

While I may not travel with them since I would not want to ruin them, they would make great accessories in a house stacked in an office, or guest bedroom. Love the pictures!!!

I agree with the comments. These vintage luggage has a multi-purpose functionality. I always take with me big luggage when traveling. As a lady, I include all my necessities. Anyway, I love travelling and my luggage is always my best friend.
